Interview with Mr. Abdoulaye Niang, Chief Executive Officer of BATILUX AFRICA

“Our Ambition Is to Become a Leading Player in Hospital Construction in Africa”

What is your personal background?

My professional journey has been driven by a deep passion for entrepreneurship in the construction and public works sector. After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from ESTP and contributing to several major real estate projects in the Paris region with Bouygues Bâtiment, I decided to return to Senegal to contribute to the economic development of the African continent.

In 2015, I founded BATILUX Africa with the ambition of actively participating in the development of infrastructure across Africa, particularly in Senegal. My goal was to contribute to the challenge of delivering high-quality structures while improving the well-being of African communities.

BATILUX Africa has specialized in hospital construction…

Our expertise in healthcare infrastructure has been built through the successful delivery of several landmark projects.

Among them is the construction of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Department at Fann Hospital, a reference center in West Africa, completed within an extremely short timeframe and inaugurated by the President of the Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This experience enabled us to undertake other major projects, including the 300-bed Tivaouane Hospital, the completion of Dakar International Hospital, the reconstruction of the 660-bed Aristide Le Dantec Hospital, the National Oncology Center in Diamniadio, as well as the demolition of obsolete structures on several hospital sites.

These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art systems and technologies to provide modern, efficient, and functional healthcare environments. This expertise enables us to meet the growing demand for healthcare infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of quality and technical excellence.

Do you have projects in other African countries?

We currently have projects underway in several West and Central African countries, particularly in Gabon. We are also working in partnership with governments committed to modernizing and industrializing their healthcare sectors.

Several projects are currently in the study phase and are expected to enter operational stages in the near future. We are also exploring opportunities for hospital developments in cities such as Abidjan, Nouakchott, and N’Djamena to address the growing need for healthcare infrastructure across the continent.

What is your strategy?

Our strategy is based on gradual expansion throughout Africa, with a strong focus on modern healthcare infrastructure. We prioritize partnerships with private stakeholders and local players to maximize the impact of our actions.

We also undertake healthcare projects through public-private partnerships, ensuring that all facilities comply with international standards while integrating advanced technologies and maintaining a high level of quality.

Innovation, local skills development, and sustainable architecture adapted to climate conditions and local contexts are also key pillars of our strategy.

What are your key strengths?

Our greatest strength lies in our specialization in hospital construction, a highly technical and high-value sector. Over the years, we have developed a specific methodology and organizational model focused on quality, safety, and timely delivery.

Our operating model is based on responsiveness and adaptability to our clients’ needs. We place strong emphasis on technological innovation, continuous training, and the search for sustainable solutions to deliver modern, efficient, and resilient healthcare infrastructure capable of meeting today’s challenges.

BATILUX Africa’s ambition is clear: to become one of Africa’s leading builders of healthcare infrastructure and to contribute to the transformation of healthcare systems across the continent.
